Hank Now-Hank Forever Hank Fisher <fisherh@comcast.net> www,transumdenver.com USA - Monday, July 07, 2008 at 18:25:52 (CDT) For 57 years I have been known as HANK. My mom once told me that a 'hank' is a handful....as in a handful of rope or a handful of a horse's mane. I don't know if that's true, but she said the nickname HANK as a metaphor....fit my personality and attitude perfectly---a HAND FULL. For years I used an email address based on another nickname some of my former employees once gave me: Easy Henry. Kind of had to do with the energy and intensity I have for life. A bit of a sarcastic comment on their part about the competitive nature and zeal I have for setting objectives and then finding the soutions. EasyHenry... Sure. I guess after having the name HANK all these years [actually Henry Fisher is the legal name] it's probably not surprising that among the things i do professionally [and have for 25 years] is create names for companies and products. I coin new names / words as often as often as my projects fit that situation. I want my clients to have unique 'BRAND' identities....so creating new words is one of the best steps in the complicated process of developing, nurturing, reinforcing and marketing a brand----based on sound strategies. Anyway, for those HANK's out there....or wannabee Hanks....check out my company site [for Transum, LLC] at www.transumdenver.com . And always remember that being HANK carries a lot of responsibilities that other names simply don't. This is my first visit to Hankdom [not Hank Dumb...at least not on Mondays]. I hope that the Hank site brings me as much joy as it apparently brings all of you. By the way: those who know me really well refer to my unique way of approaching things as : Hankery. Submit my Hankism Reset Form Hank C <None> None USA - Sunday, January 09, 2005 at 11:41:30 (CST) Late night. Couldn't get to sleep. Worked on a name development project for a client. That's what I do. Create corporate identity solutions. Latest solution got approval from the trademark attorney this afternoon. Good news. Usually I coin names; creating one of a kind solutions that enable clients to get federal trademarking with the greatest possible likelihood of success. Strange thing to do for a living. I realize that. I used to be general manager of a meat packing company during the mid-70s and early-80s. After that, while writing several unpublished novels and children's stories, I ran a hot dog cart in Denver in 1975. It's always a toss up whether making up names for living is any less or any more strange than meat packing or selling hot dogs in the North Cherry Creek shopping area to high-end customers. By the way, I do not eat red meat; haven't for 15 years. Not a moral decision; my body doesn't do well trying to digest beef. As most of you know, being a Hank permits you to do, say and write almost anything and to do it with lots of confidence and a big smile. Hankyou! Still it had Henry beat all to hell! That was in my younger, unenlightened rock & roll days. Then I turned to country music until it got so overproduced it made me sick. Then I quit listening to everything but oldies music. Now I've come full circle and love old country and traditional. I play the harp & guitar, neither very well, but sometimes even a blind hog will find an acorn. If it wasn't for Catfish Jeff and Dr. Trey, the slideman, I wouldn't have a hope. However, they can hold a song together while I diddle around. Have been known in the past as Hanky-poo, Hanky-panky, On-re, and Stank(probably fits!). Now I go by Hammer among a few friends and co-workers. I'm amazed by this site...I didn't know there were Hanks in other places besides the south, and we're really rare here, too. I thought it wasnt done before by anybody...How wrong i was...This is very good site. I still made the page though and putted a link on it to this one :) HANK is one off the most rarest names in Holland. I read a submition of a certain Henk Hogedoorn on this site whom claimed there arent any HANK's in Holland. He doesnt know anything...there are..Me! And there are others too...Tssss...Henk is the most common name in Holland and has certainly not that special 'thing' which the name HANK has and only a true HANK understands. HANK rules!!! I don't think I've ever properly thanked my parents for bestowing it upon me--a situation I shall seek to remedy soon. The only downside of being a Hank is, technically, I'm a Henry (not a bad name, either). This often causes mind-numbing confusion on the part of knuckehead bank tellers and bureaucrats who cannot fathom that someone named Hank and Henry could possibly be the same person. It happens more than most non-Hanks can imagine. The only wisdom I can offer you, my fellow Hanks, is a premise I've arrived at over the years; everything takes longer than you think it will. Not terribly deep, but essentially true. Godspeed, Hank Stewart Hank Stewart <hankstew@aol.com> New York, USA - Tuesday, April 04, 2000 at 12:34:15 (CDT) Hi! No ramblings, etc. just yet. I am more fortunate than most: My dad was a Hank and my mom's nickname was Hank long before she met my dad. I have a brother-in-law that is a Hank and used to work with two other Hanks at my last job. I have a friend now who is Henk and that is close enough. Its truly a cowboy name (head em off at the pass hank) but you grow to love it. There has never been a mass murderer named Hank or even son of Hank. A Hank has never carved a swasitka into his forehead, led a cult, or tryed to assassinate anyone. If you are a Hank you are blessed. Learn to appreciate it and get on with your life. And if you ruin it for the rest of us? We will find you and beat the crap out of you. Thanks. Some of his tunes; Hankerin', Hank's Pranks are (should be) considered classics. I too am a good saxophonist. Other Hank's I know of are Hank Crawford and Hank Jones. The latter is a great pianist of the famous Jones brothers including Elvin and Thad. Hank Drake is a good drummer, but he has changed his name to Hamid. I still think he is Hank. Do you get Hanked around? Do you still feel the need to Hank off now and again, just to get through this life? Do you Hank up your car with a scissors Hank, or do you feel safer using a hydraulic Hank? Do you need Hanks or better to open? When I was a kid, I used to play this game called "Hanks," but it didn't work very well because all the marbles were hanktehedrons, so they didn't roll too well. Hankstraws was always considered a far superior game... Anyway, I'm about done Hanking around here, and I don't want to make a Hankass out of myself. Plus, I about out of Hank. (punctuation is imaginary.) But I digress ... I'm not a Hank, but I'm a Marian. I think I get partial points for that. P.S. Please send me your commas. Your page is a step in the right direction... and a journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step! But we need to focus on the journey ahead. I believe that one day this country... nay... the entire world might be filled with men and women named Hank. First names. Last names. Middle names. But Hank as a proper noun isn't enough. No. Not even nearly enough. I have a vision of a world with Hank as a verb. Q: "So, what-da-ya wanna do after work?" A: "What else? Let's go hank at Hank's house." Admittedly, the idea is not fully developed. But all great movements begin with but one idea. That's right! I wrote "movement." And the great Hank Movement is exactly what I have in mind. But enough of this drivel. Talk is nothing compared to action... and I have things to do. By the way -- we found you through WXRT. Bon voyage! Sherman and Ray and Dan and Michele Madison & Chicago, Wisc. & Ill. USA - Dear Ms. Hank: Like yourself, I am also a Hank--Hank Lewis more specifically. My middle name is Henry--my first name is one of those snotty sounding southern gentry names that nobody ever gets right! When I was at softball camp, one of my buddies said that I hit the ball like Hank Aaron because I hit it so well. When I told him my middle name was Henry, he said, "Well then, you are now Hammerin' Hank!" The name stuck that summer and when I came home, it took folks in my household and at school to adjust to the name change--I ignored anyone who didn't call me "Hank." Although I don't like Country music (but then again, there is no disputing taste), I think Hank is a strong sounding name that is used by all men and women, whether first or last names that have good minds, strong opinions and are survivors who overcome. I like the website and will check it out often.
